Retail Assistant, Tate Edit, Tate Modern

Closes 17th June 2018 London Part time Paid (£15k-20k pro rata)
Contact retailhr@tate.org.uk

Tate Enterprises Ltd. is the trading arm of Tate. Its chief areas of operation are retailing on four sites, publishing (both Tate exhibition catalogues and general art books, as well as illustrated children’s books), product development, picture library and licensing.

Tate Edit features limited editions, objects for the home, and artist’s products. The selection will change regularly and is uniquely Tate. The first ‘edit’ has been chosen for us by Jasper Morrison, who also designed the beautiful space, in collaboration with architects Herzog and de Meuron. Since then we have worked with Momoko Mizutani, and currently Margaret Howell.

The shop includes many of our favourite things, from classic design pieces to objects created specially for us, and furniture, cutlery, glass and tableware used in Tate’s restaurants and member’s rooms.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Retail Assistant to join the Tate Edit shop at Tate Modern on a permanent basis working minimum 26 hours per week.

Given the nature of the store we require someone who is comfortable with dealing with high value items and someone confident in communicating and building relationships with high profile clients. The position will require you to have a strong sales background in high end product with proven knowledge of modern art and design. The Retail Assistant will also be required to work events for new Edit launches.

To be successful you will need to love working with the public and have experience of working in a fast-paced, busy retail environment. You will be part of a dynamic team and so will need to work well with others and display excellent communication and collaboration skills.

We offer great benefits, staff training, performance and service awards, great discounts in our shops and catering outlets, Employee Assistance Program, Cycle scheme and free entry to exhibitions for our employees and their friends and family.

Please apply directly on our Careers Website.

Interviews planned for the week commencing 21st June 2018.
